Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a manual therapy that emphasizes long strokes, kneading, and friction motions to encourage proper circulation. The technique involves rubbing muscles together in the same direction as the flow of blood to the heart. Swedish massage works to improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, stretch tight ligaments, and reduce emotional stress.

Reiki

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Russ practices trauma-informed Reiki learned from Izzy Swanson of Feileacan Ministry.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body. Deep tissue work doesn’t always mean hard pressure. It’s working with the deeper layers of tissues to improve muscle function and range of motion, break up scar tissue and adhesions, decrease pain, improve posture, recover from injuries and chronic pain, and increase mobility and flexibility.

Sports Massage

Sports massage involves soft tissue manipulation that is done with the intent to improve the body. Many professional athletes take advantage of sports massage on a daily basis. For pro athletes, their sport is their life and their bodies are the vehicle of their sport. Runners are perfect candidates for regular sports massage. Having regular therapy sessions can assist in body awareness to distinguish between muscle fatigue and body malfunction. The most basic thing about sports massage is that it allows the body to regain proper alignment, function, and is excellent in preventing injuries.

Orthopedic and Clinical Massage

Orthopedic massage is not a technique or specific modality. It is a comprehensive approach that involves a thorough assessment and a wide variety of treatment methods or techniques for using massage to treat soft-tissue musculoskeletal disorders. Orthopedic massage is also just as much as the assessment of the client’s condition and approach to addressing it.

Prenatal Massage

A prenatal massage helps work out tension in the muscles and relieve body aches caused by stress or strenuous activity, helping you to relax both physically and mentally. But unlike regular massage, prenatal massage takes extra precautions to make it safe for pregnancy, like limiting how much you’re lying on your stomach (if at all) and avoiding certain areas of the body where extra pressure might cause discomfort or harm to the pregnant person or fetus.

Cupping is a safe, traditional treatment that helps resolve chronic muscle tightness and pain faster than massage therapy alone. Benefits include an increase in circulation, encouraging tissues to release toxins, reducing anxiety, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks, can improve varicose veins and spider veins, clearing congestion and helping with asthma, can clear colon blockages and helping with digestion, and many other benefits.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a manual therapy technique often used in massage. The technique focuses on pain believed to arise from myofascial tissue. Myofascial pain originates in "trigger points," which are related to stiff, anchored areas within the myofascial tissue. The therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable under light manual pressure. These areas, though not always near what feels like the source of pain, are thought to restrict muscle and joint movements, which contributes to widespread muscle pain. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy loosen up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain.
